A major theme from the weekend at The Purple Teacup Retreat is that we need to share our voice. We are credible, powerful, authentic, and important. And what we have to say is just as credible, powerful, authentic and important. Are you ready to share your voice? One of these powerful women just might inspire you to do it!
Share Your Voice
As I said above, the major theme woven throughout the retreat was finding the message or idea that is uniquely yours. And then, share it to empower others to share their voice as well.
If you haven’t figured it out yet I am really about your living your dreams! I mean, come on, you have been following along with the Do What You Love series. Heck, it is a theme throughout my entire blog. Over and over I realized that I am living the life I want to live and the life I love. That is why I feel so compelled to share business opportunities, tools, and resources with others.
The women that shared their voice
Over the weekend, I listened and watched many women have their a-ha moments. The realized that they had a voice that is uniquely their own. As they all talked and had their moments I realized I am taking those steps to live the life I love already. The re-affirmation was empowering.
Strong women seeking to empower others
The Saturday morning sessions
During the retreat, we listened to some incredible women. First, Mandy Burnett led us through a journey to help us remember who the “real” person is and not the mask that we put on for others. My key takeaway was that we all have a voice and need to tell our stories. If we share with others we’ll inspire and empower them to live their fullest lives. Mandy is an amazing woman that is being her “extraordinary” self. And therefore, challenging us all to be “extraordinary,” too.
Up next, The Duck Wrangler, Sandy Brantley. Sandy’s story is a powerful one to hear in person and I strongly encourage you to pick up a copy of her book on May 13th when it is released if you have a teenager or two in your life. But for the retreat, her message wove in the story of how she got to the point of publishing her book. During it, she implored us all to “be BOLD in your voice.” We are all credible because we have lived our lives – – therefore we all have a story to share with others. She, too, suggested that we turn on our lights.
Next, the rockstar Pampered Chef gal, Jamie Makin, let the poodle out of the bag (she isn’t a cat person) with what she has been cooking up lately – – her brand new digital planner and a digital version of The Ultimate Blog Planner and Social Media Calendar. Jamie got sick of not finding a product that fit direct sellers so she made one. If that doesn’t sound like an empowered woman than I don’t know what your definition of empowerment is at all! And she created a new website to boot, too, @MakinItSocial.
The Saturday afternoon sessions
Joni Kenny, of Kinney Chaos fame and her fresh new blog filled with inspiration, led us through a crash course in just how amazing Twitter is for our blogs and businesses. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to her, she shared more than just a tool for us to share our voices. She shared a great perspective and a subtle reminder that we are all not just stay-at-home women. We all have unique experiences and backgrounds to share with others. Joni is another kick-tush, strong woman.
To cap it off, Michele M. Bradley lobbed some of her (need to be) patented #BradleyBombs. There are moments in time when someone that we perceive to be exceptionally strong and powerful drops the curtain just a bit to show that being a bit vulnerable can be exceptionally powerful. Her brand and business are wrapped up in helping other women share “our authentic voice that is rooted in our own words.” She showed that in spades. And shared the wisdom of her powerful words and story with all of us.
The Sunday morning session
Hope Hanson, the founder of The Purple Teacup Co and the awesome woman that brought us all together for the enlightening retreat presented. She led off with some technical talk. It is something that we all need to hone our blogs to share our collective and individual voices. And then challenged us to do some soul searching and goal setting for our lives, businesses, and how we can share it all with others.
That’s a wrap!
