Lately, I have been having some major mindset and motivation struggles. Okay, a lot longer than lately. It has truly been a cycle of “later, rinse, repeat as necessary” kind of feeling to get my tush in gear and get some personal and professional things done. I am not alone, right?
Lather, rinse, repeat
Each evening I say, “Okay, self, let’s get some stuff done tomorrow!” You know, all of that stuff that keeps piling up. M-kay. Do I? Nope, so then I say it to myself again. Do you see where I am going with that Friends reference of Phoebe Buffay’s hit?
Each morning, I wake up and tackle the day. Okay, that is an overstatement, for the last few weeks I have been attempting to tackle the day. I have stayed diligent with opening up my 52 Lists Planner, which I totally love and has been helping me keep treading water v. sinking, and jot down my Top 3 Priorities, loosely time-block by day, and reflect upon the day before to begin the day.
I jug along just fine for the first 15 minutes, sometimes an hour, and then “Bam!” the motivation and drive is just sucked right out of me.
At the end of the day, I am just sapped of all energy, drive, and desire to get anything accomplished from the day that I had planned to do. Furthermore, I don’t make excuse, I am not saying anything to myself of about “give yourself grace, you have a lot on your plate,” I am just blah.
I reflect back on the day with no feelings of remorse of having not accomplished anything. Unfortunately, I just let those feelings of apathy rinse over me.
See where that lather, rinse, repeat is really just spinning along with the repeat as necessary. I just keep doing this over, over, and over again. Some might wager I have some serious depression going on or my body is just processing the overwhelming stress of my last couple of years poorly.
Should I mention all the stress? Hmmm… Nah, I’ll just keep trucking along with my little world.
My plan of attack to stop the “repeat”
- Keep running, literally.
- One foot in front of the other, metaphorically.
- Write this post.
- Stop pretending I can do it all and practice the fine art of saying “no” and the other doozy, “ask for help.”
The nicest thing about the rain is that it always stops. Eventually.A. A. Milne
That’s a wrap!
Hopefully, this meandering post has helped me get out of the lather, rinse, repeat spin-cycle and back to the land of productivity so I can start sharing some more business, travel, and mama llama drama posts with you so be sure to subscribe to the newsletter to see the latest.
I need to get back to writing about all of those neat and cool business opportunities and tools, doing what you love, and living (and enjoying) a life that you love.
