A warm welcome back to the Do What You Love, Love What You Do series. This installment introduces us to Rebekah Svensson, Juice Plus Virtual Franchise Owner and Blogger. Without a doubt, Rebekah truly personifies her nom de plume, Awkward; Yet Healthy. Through this interview, we both learned of our mutual appreciation for a lost form of communication. Juice Plus Virtual Franchise Owner and Blogger

Business (Company) and Industry

I am a Juice Plus Virtual Franchise owner and a blogger! I combine them into my brand: Awkward; Yet Healthy.

Years in this business/industry

I have been with Juice Plus for about 3 and a half years and I officially launched my blog in late 2018.

What is your favorite thing about your business/company?

I have to go with the products (duh), the actual Juice Plus company, and the people I’ve met through my business. In terms of blogging, whenever I get a comment from someone that my words have hit home or helped them it makes my heart sing. So I guess that means helping people is my favorite part?

What drove you to be a part of your business or start your business?

I sort of stumbled into the products while trying to regain my health after a celiac diagnosis. I did one Shred10 and I was hooked, so signing up made sense. From there it became a way to be myself outside of motherhood. It was MY thing. Same with the blog. It’s 100% MINE! Muahaha! Plus I really love to write.

What has surprised you most about working in (your field)?

The amount of personal growth I have experienced. I had been in therapy for a while before joining, but there’s something about being your own boss and getting out of you comfort zone that really causes growth. Between that and finding some really amazing friends through direct sales I’d have to say it’s been one of the biggest game changers in my life. It very quickly became about the growth for me, money be damned!

If you were the founder or a key executive what thing would you improve or change?

I’d offer an affiliate/ influencer version of a virtual franchise for Juice Plus. I’d love to see them appeal to the younger generations. It would be cool if I could sign up folks as affiliates or influencers and manage any customers they brought in on their behalf. You know, widen my market without having to recruit to traditional direct sales. It might help get to people who are a little skittish.

As far as blogging goes, I am the founder so obviously, it’s TOTALLY perfect! Wink Wink!

Biggest piece of advice if they take the opportunity to join your business?

Make it YOURS. Your path to success, hell even your DEFINITION of success, will not look like anyone else’s. That’s the beauty of this business. If you want to skyrocket to the top, we have the perfect role model for you. If you want to make just a little bit extra, we can help there too. And definitely, most definitely, use the Juice Plus products faithfully. Because they really do make a big difference.

What would you have done differently from the beginning?

I’d have sought out direct sales coaching earlier. My mindset completely shifted when I found Elite Suite, so I wish I had found it earlier. The community I found there as well as the strategies are really what kept me going. And blogging! I’d have hopped on the blogging train from the start!

What tool(s) are essential?

In my humble opinion, I think you need to be willing to work on yourself. Look inward instead of outward when things aren’t going how you want them to. Self-awareness and the willingness to grow is key.

Because both Juice Plus and blogging don’t involve shipping, parties, flash sales, etc. it is 100% relationship based. I have chosen to focus mainly on online marketing, so I pour my heart and soul into my blog posts, graphics, and being authentic. As far as tangible tools all you truly need for a Juice Plus business is a communication device of some sort. Most Juice Plus reps run their franchise completely from their phone or computer. I’ve considered carrier pigeons too, but they don’t do too well in my router.

What type of training or courses do you think would benefit someone joining your business?

Elite Suite! Purple Teacup! Those are my go-to’s for my business and blog coaching. I also have a skillshare membership for random skills like photo editing and podcasting. There are tons of books out there too that can help with mindset and motivation. My personal favorite is ‘The subtle art of not giving a F*ck’ by Mark Manson.

What is your big dream for your business? Or your next big goal for it?

Build a powerful team of people who want a different approach to life. People who want to be the healthiest and happiest they can be. People who build their business their way but know I’m always there for them.

Oh, and build, build, BUILD the blog! I want to reach as many people as possible. I want people to laugh, feel seen, and help them to become a happy healthier version of themselves. I love to write and I love to help people, so hopefully, the blog will let me do both for years to come. Plus it’d be really awesome if it helped create some passive income. I don’t need to be rolling in the dolla bills, but it’d be nice to squirrel away some.

What would you say to anyone considering starting any business of their own/ jumping into the entrepreneur life?

Get comfortable with failure. Like all types of failure. I write posts all the time that totally flop, I have people cancel orders, and I screw up. But the thing is that every time I ‘fail’… I grow. Nothing ever comes out of being comfortable. Just keep going. The wins and gains along the way are worth every one of tough moments.

Where can we follow your journey?

Awkward; Yet Healthy is my fancy pants website. You’ll find links to all my social media on there too. I also respond to carrier pigeons.

Anything else that you would like to share?

Aside from a huge thank you to you for letting me share my passions? Well, let’s see here…

  1. Juice Plus is awesome. You should read my blog posts about it. Everyone should have Juice Plus in their life!
  2. Making friends in the interwebs is for real. My husband laughs at me when I explain how I know some of the people I talk to every day. But let me tell you, these friendships are legit. When something is hard or I need a friend I have so many people to turn to now.
  3. Being authentic and vulnerable is hard, but it is so worth it! When you let your walls down and just be yourself something magic happens. It’s like finding the perfect spot in your bed. Sure, some people don’t like the real you, but those weren’t your people to begin with. The people that DO like the real you? They’re with you for all the right reasons, and that is such a wonderful feeling! Stop trying to be someone other people want you to be and start being the person YOU want to be!
  4. Use carrier pigeons.

And that’s a wrap!

I have dreams, you know!

Pigeon, Mo Willems

Our shared love of carrier pigeons was a pleasant surprise. Furthermore, that theme of finding yourself outside of your motherhood role is one that resonates with me since that is how I started in my direct sales journey, too. As well as, it looks like we have a new book added to our reading list with Mark Manson’s The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life.
